The DRUMBEAT Festival (Jozi)
I came across this little event and thought that it was something a little different from what the Jozi crowd is used to (wearing vests and beating each other at waterparks). The DRUMBEAT music festival presents an all South African, top quality music line-up, coupled with good food. On Friday 1 June and Saturday 2 June 2012 at the Birchwood Hotel, Johannesburg, festival goers can expect a celebration of jazz, featuring well known artists such as the Trio, (Steve Kekana, Babsy Mlangeni and Joe Nina) on the Friday and Lira, Zakes Bantwini, Sibongile Khumalo and the totally awesome Mi Casa on the Saturday.
Tickets cost R400 for Friday (1 stage), which includes cocktail snacks and drinks to the value of R150. Saturday tickets cost R250 (3 stages) for entry only and all tickets are available at Ticketbreak.
The Friday event gates open at 17:00 and artists confirmed for this evening are: Maleh / Trio (Steve Kekana, Babsy Mlangeni, Joe Nina) / Herbie Tsoaeli and Zahara.
Saturdays gates open at 12:00 midday and the event runs until 02:00. Artists confirmed for Saturday include: Lira / Adam Glasser / Zakes Bantwini / Stimela / Sibongile Khumalo / Selaelo Selota / Karen Zoid & Vusi Mahlasela / Hot Water / Kold Produkt / Toya DeLazy/ Asanda Bam and Mi Casa
For more information about the event, go to The DRUMBEAT Facebook site. DRUMBEAT is presented by Toyota in association with Hilltop Live and Amstel Lager.
