THE DIRTY SKIRTS – LOST IN THE FALL Album Launch

I for one, and I know I don’t speak for just myself, am SUPER stoked about this release, especially with the awesomness of the Strike The Match track and video (see below for video). We also have 2 tickets to giveaway for Zulu Bar!

This Saturday, the 23rd of July, sees THE DIRTY SKIRTS launch their much anticipated new album, LOST IN THE FALL, at Zula Bar in Cape Town.

LOST IN THE FALL is quite different from any previous offerings from THE DIRTY SKIRTS. Whether it’s an evolution or a sudden change in direction – it’s heavier in parts, and it’s deeper in content. They have written some of the most complex and interesting music of their careers so far. To them, LOST IN THE FALL is the best work they’ve ever done and it is reflected in the 12 tracks of deep, beautiful and intense music.

LOST IN THE FALL Track List:
1. Rebellion (prelude)
2. Rebellion
3. We’re all gonna die
4. It’s gone too far
5. The holy hour
6. Don’t throw away your dancing shoes
7. Evil Comes
8. You are the machine
9. Music stole my heart
10.Strike the match
11.Now we are nowhere
12.Pray the waters come

The first single from LOST IN THE FALL, Strike The Match, was released earlier this year and was play listed on radio stations nationwide. It reached the Top 10 on Highveld and KFM’s Hombrew charts, as well as entered the 5FM’s Top 40 and the music video reached nr. 1 on the MK Music Video Charts.

To me “Lost in the Fall” seems like the start of a new chapter!

The albums On A Stellar Bender and Daddy Don’t Disco were basically the soundtracks to our varsity lives for my friends and I – so many memories wrapped up in rocking out to Homewrecker with my friends at places like Springboks and I will always remember my friends mocking me everytime “Can’t remember your name” was played because, while listening to the skirts (as we like to call them) and leaving for Rocking the Daisies 2008, I forgot my boyfriend’s name – right before our 1 month anniversary!

Needless to say I bought him Daddy Don’t Disco to make up for it!

Can’t wait to make more memories with the new album! :D

  2. Kyle Paulsen says:

    I’m Lauren’s boyfriend!

I deserve to win tickets since the awesomeness of The Skirts was the reason she forgot my name so they owe me one!

  3. Jonathan says:

Been a fan since i first heard “Homewrecker” but became a true fan when i watched them at Kirstenbosch, still my favourite performance ever at the botanical gardens and believe you me i’ve had my fair share of Sunday arvie performances.

Can’t wait to take this new adventure with them, really digging the new sound and this Saturday i will try and turn my friend who is still on the fence about them into a fan like me. He’s coming whether he likes it or not.

Years ago, I was lying in my bed one morning listening to the radio waiting for the announcement of the line up for the very first ‘Virgin Festival’ in South Africa. Although the line up turned out to be quite a disappointment and the show never actually took place, a great thing happened that morning.

After the announcement, 5fm (if I remember correctly) proceeded to play some of it’s finest songs and included one that I had heard many times before and always enjoyed, so much that I had never thought of taking the time to find out who or what it was.

Not this time. Not on my watch.

I got out of my bed, marched to my computer, sat down and promptly went to Google some of the lyrics.

“Let’s punch a whole in this Saturday night.”

There it was. I’d finally found them.

From that moment I never looked back and became a long-time-fan. From Rocking the Daisies to Synergy, the Cape Town Festival to our very own Stones in Blouberg (where we had shots of Tequila after the show), Zula Bar to Kirstenbosch and many more. I have watched the Dirty Skirts perform live time and time again.

Since finishing school and starting to work, the most recent album Daddy Don’t Disco has provided me with some great ear candy in my car on those long drives in traffic. Now with the release of their new album and new sound, it means that they will continue entertaining and performing for years to come. If Strike the Match and We’re All Gonna Die are anything to go by, we’re in for quite a treat and will be able to experience plenty more memories and good times listening to and watching the great Dirty Skirts.

Surely it can’t be your last!!. Was in Canal walk an hour ago and no one had the new album – the hunt goes on
