Smirnoff Experience with Above & Beyond – What A Party!

The legendary Godskitchen Boombox made its way to SA’s shores again this past weekend, and it did not disappoint!

Where does one even begin to describe the sheer awesomeness of the Smirnoff Experience that saw Godskitchen’s Boombox housing the legendary Above & Beyond???!

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, so maybe this picture is a good start to describe the intensity…

What an EPIC party! Like the name says, this was a true experience!

MyCityByNight was lucky enough to enjoy the party with our friends from Halo, SLXS, Cosmo Cathy, Dont Party & Cape Town Alive, and man oh man did we party!?! Even the legendary Pascal, one half of local dj/producer allstars Pascal and Pearce was on hand to join us all in bowing down before the sheer brilliance of Above & Beyond!

The Halo boys had a rather nifty (well actually brilliant) idea of getting a South African flag signed by people at the party, including the lads from Above & Beyond. Backstage was really great with the guys, they chatted with us, had photo’s with everyone and were all round bloody legends! Unfortunately till they invent robots that take photos, someone had to take them, and that someone was me. So boohoo I got no pic with them… Instead I just chilled in the boombox taking pics! (tough life) Hahaha! (all the pics in the gallery). There was 1 major downside though, some people thought I was with Thunda! Yoh! Check yourselves, I was in the Boombox, not handing out cards and telling you to pose!

The MyCityByNight crew where lucky enough to have platinum VIP/media tickets for the Smirnoff hospitality area, where we sipped on vodka and tequila like it was the night before the end of the earth! From world class cocktails to the bar staff themselves, its was just pure awesomeness! Smirnoff, you out did yourselves!

As I mentioned above, I was fortunate enough to be the photographer behind the deadly DJ’s! Let me tell you this, these guys dance around each other and make DJ’ing look so easy, that its actually beyond (no pun intended) ridonculous! Above & Beyond belted out an unbelievable set and their classics got the dance floor erupting with ecstasy and in a true state of euphoria! (closing with their mix of Satellite- I thought Ricky was about to die when he heard that one- its one of his favourites)

Above & Beyond were followed by a certain Mr Dean Fuel, that finished off what was a truly amazing night with his touch of class on the decks!

Lastly, A MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE shout-out goes to Liz and the Smirnoff brand crew and the other deadly trio from FD (Carrie, Stacy and Demezulu) and Andrea from Godskitchen for hosting us and throwing an epic event… sorry I mean EXPERIENCE! Andrea too for allowing me to take the photies… Glad my fluttering eyelashes worked! Hahaha!
