Skazi is Coming to Cape Town – Thanks Disasterpiece
Since I start trancing way back when in mid 2003, I missed Skazi when he came down here. So when I heard the news that Disasterpiece had booked one of the pioneers of the trance scene, I was more than stoked with the news. I must admit though, when I first heard about Skazi I thought he wasn’t the best DJ, thought he was one of the more commercial DJ’s but the more I listened to his production, the more his sound grew on me. I have always enjoyed the sound of an insane guitar riffs tearing through a loud speaker system and Skazi is one DJ who has perfected that sound. His track “I Wish” and “Hit And Run” are a perfect example of this kind of sound. These are just one of many tracks that have been produced with this unique Skazi sound. I seriously hope he has some new material for his Cape Town gig and throw some classic numbers that we have all heard and become accustomed to over the years. Happy Halloween everyone, things are going to get very freaky… thats for sure!
Skazi’s Biography:
If scoring the #37 slot in DJ Magazine’s 2006 Top 100 DJs in the world was any testament to the reputation of this rising trance star, then Skazi needs little introduction. Hailing from the premier league of trance creators from Israel, Skazi produces a unique style of hardcore dance floor trance music that has gathered a following since 1998.
Skazi’s principle artist is Asher Swissa. Rooted in the local punk and hardcore scene, he began DJing and producing events all over Israel, garnering a loyal fan base of revelers drawn to a new and innovative twist on trance. One such enthusiast was skilled synth performer B-Bass, who upon introduction developed a rapport with the trance producer and guitarist. They began creating and performing music together, and grew into the tour-de-force that Skazi is known as today.
Their first trance album, “Animal” (Sept. 2000), was revolutionary in its musical direction. Combining live guitar riffs & storming sounds, “Animal” became an overnight success worldwide and positioned Skazi in the forefront of the global psy-trance scene.
They experienced similar success with their release of “Storm” (March 2002), and subsequent mix compilations (“Zoo1″,”Zoo2″,”Zoo3″ and “Most Wanted”). Their original productions were also featured on high-profile trance compilations distributed in Japan, the UK, Russia, and beyond.
With a solid musical repertoire and solid fan base, the demand for their live performances became relentless. Skazi has covered all corners of the globe, performing mainly at massive trance music festivals in front of tens of thousands of people. They now regularly visit Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Australia, Russia, India, Spain, U.K., Italy, Sweden, among countless others countries.

Don’t get me wrong, Animal and Storm were pioneering albums in the psy dance floor scene but the new shit is pale in comparison… IF he only coming to play the old shit then HELL YEAH… otherwise ja i hope he gets pied… well both of them…
@Psylover: Each person has got their own opinion, I respect that. I have never seen him live, so I am really looking forward to it. I think Disasterpiece have pulled together a HUGE line up so even if Skazi wasnt on the line up, I would be more then satisified with all the local DJ’s. . But no i won’t be going cause i’m an old tripper stuck in the past in the land of real psy and happy people. Disasterpeace to me is a disaster to the peace that party’s use to give people. Instead now it’s a battlefield with angry music and people taking strain, the heart and soul isn’t there. Long gone are the days where you could take anyone to any psyparty and they would with out a doubt be drawn into the charm and love, that parties used to offer. But yes each to their own, one mans music is another mans noise and hi-tech-death-metal-trance is very popular these days so who the hell am I to say it’s crap heartless noise. But the fact is psy used to attract all sorts of people and even my super conservative folks always commented on this interesting music that they for some reason liked to hear even though it was that DOOF DOOF stuff us children listen too, you know? Don’t get me wrong some good acts on the line up eg. Bruce, Biorythm and Xatrik, but too small a percentage for me, to make it worth the expense, there’s always another one in any case. But ja… Not for me…

@psylover. you obviously never went to a skazi party. its not about his music that he brings, its about the fun and energy that he brings! I have had some of the biggest jols at the parties he’s played at, because the man is a born entertainer!! and when your friends come back after and tell you just what a fantastic time they had/best of the season etc, know that you missed out.
