Rocking the Daisies with your favourite online crew

Later today sees the winners of the MyCityByNight Rocking the Daisies 2010 Competition announced, accompanied by widespread rejoicing amongst all of you that popped your favourite pic a vote to get them onto the winners podium.

Feeling vibed with all of this excitement ahead of RTD 2010, a couple of Cape Town’s social media and blogging powerhouses met up for a little pow-wow… Cue country western music and just imagine the somewhat less smokey scene (because you cant smoke inside anymore by law) and Nash from Bangers & Nash and the MCBN crew around a table at Cape Town’s oldest pub The Perseverance Tavern deep in discussion. Yes that’s right, we can actually all get along

So what basically emerged after 1 or 2 pints had been become another problem for our liver and kidneys to endure, was the fact that all of us were going to Rocking the Daisies (Dont Party included) and that it would be a pretty cool idea for all of us to chill and aid each other and our massive collection of fans and followers through the experience of RTD- thus making our online community a real life one- oooh imagine that, the real world with wind and car guards.

So through a country-first collaboration Bangers & Nash, Dont Party and MyCityByNight have brought together some really cool sponsors to set up a bloggers mini-village at this year’s RTD. We’ll have a couple of exciting things at the village including some social media equipment that will allow us to interview any of our fans who are at the festival and are willing to be part of our photo/video diary for the event. We’ll be chatting to a couple of the acts performing at RTD as well, so if you’re keen for an autograph (from them, not us hehehehe), come say hi and let us know- we’ll try hook something up.

Us being the creative bunch that we are, we werent able to come up with a name that suited the village and an equally cool flag to plonk outside our taj mahal style gazebo. For now I’m going with… The Party and Bang By Night bloggers village of AWESOME. Catchy.
