Rick Ross joins the Lil Wayne “I am Still Music Tour” at the Coca Cola Dome
After an unbelievable response from fans wanting to see Lil Wayne perform on African soil for the very first, Canoc Productions, promoters of the South African leg of the Lil Wayne worldwide “I Am Still Music Tour” and media partner, Channel O just announced an extra 2000 tickets are available for the show at the Coca Cola Dome, Johannesburg on Friday, 9 December 2011.
To make these tickets all the more valuable Canoc Productions and Channel O have added the six-foot-two, 300-pound Rick Ross as the supporting act for the Johannesburg concert only. Rick Ross rose from ruling Miami’s underground rap scene, to become 2006’s buzz-worthiest hip-hop artist with Port Of Miami, his #1 Pop/#1 R&B/#1 Rap major label debut album. Like Lil Wayne, Ricky Ross is performing in Johannesurg for the first time and is more than amped, after checking out SA late last year.
Other names on the lineup include those from the Young Money Entertainment stable: Corey Gunz, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine (Young Money’s President and life-long friend of Lil Wayne), Shannel, T-Streets and Jae Millz.
To support SA musicians even further Canoc Productions will be launching the Lil Wayne supporting act competition. This competition is two-fold by giving concert-goers the opportunity to design their own concert experience, while at the same time creating a once in a lifetime opportunity for local musicians, DJ’s, dancers and bands to perform at one of the Lil Wayne concerts. The competition is split onto two main categories, one for established artists and the other for up and upcoming artists. In each of these categories there will be an opportunity for one DJ, a group of dancers plus a soloist, band or group to be selected.
To stand a chance at being selected to perform at these concerts, artists need to create profiles on http://www.listenwithcare.co.za/, upload their content – video, songs and pictures and share it with their fans using social networks. Fans would need to view artist profiles on the site and vote for whom they want to see perform at the concert. Each fan is entitled to one vote per artist. The more votes an artist accumulates in a specific category the better a chance they stand to win to perform at their chosen concert venue. The website goes live from the 23 November 2011 and the competition ends on 4 December 2011.
