For those who haven’t experienced what we do…here’s the 411.

PLAYLISTED was the result of a simple desire to hear all the music we liked in one night, from the latest indie/ electro/ DnB bangers and classic party tracks, to pulsating progressive goodness and psychedelic rhythms.

So with that in mind we assembled playlists, lineups and requests and shit got crazy! Since then we’ve featured many of Cape Town’s top DJ’s, such as Stone Age Citizens, Bruce Willis??, Headroom, The Commercial Hippies & Citizen Kane, but to name a few

10:00 – 01:00 Drive By Disco
01:00 – 02:00 Nesono
02:00 – 04:00 Deadbeat FM

Nesono is the electrotech-breaks project of James Copeland from Cape Town, South Africa.

No stranger to the dance music scene, he has toured the world with his psytrance project Broken Toy for over 6 years playing some of the biggest festivals in the world and rocking parties in over 20 countries with his high-octane twisted funky beats. Two albums and over 70 tracks later, it was time for new challenges and fresh grooves…

Nesono, the Xhosa( an African tribe) word for cheeky/naughty, represents an African approach to distorted dance music. The sounds of electro, tech house, breaks, and even drumstep collide and blend into a futuristic tribal groove of big grinding bass and dirty beats. Not afraid of epic builds, sneaky drops and pushing the limits, expect a dance floor experience from mild to wild that will tweak your mind and rock your body.

As a self-taught musician and producer with a serious distaste for music theory, James grew up playing guitar and bass in various metal and funk bands before forging his own unique path through the wastelands of electronic music. Inspired by the sounds of industrial, electro-clash and booty bass, he traded in the guitars for synthesizers and started working with computers. It’s been a long road with many hard-earned lessons along the way, but the results speak for themselves.

From playing massive festivals around the world to dominating dance floors in his home country – the list is long and growing steadily. Like Glade in the UK, Universo Paralelo and Kaballah in Brazil, Boom in Portugal, Sonica in Italy, Full Moon in Germany, Cyberpunk Revolution in Russia, and various other parties as far reaching as Japan, Australia, Mexico, and Canada. It’s an illustrious career of dancefloor mayhem that will now extend its reach into your city, your clubs and your speakers.

Be prepared and please enjoy responsibly.

The Deadbeat FM DJ/Producer duo is dedicated to bringing a vulgar new sound to the tech scene. They are the unholy union of notorious psy-trance producer, Deliriant (Shane), with a multitude of international gigs and releases under his belt, and Johnny Rook (Piers), the shady breaks peddler from the seediest bars downtown.

The Deadbeat FM sound is not tied down by genre, but delves mostly into the grimy underworld of minimal and tech house; making use of dirty bass lines, fat kicks and huge drums & percussion, often with a driving yet minimalist undertone.

Recently placing third in a D-Nox & Beckers remix competition, the Joburg based duo is making waves internationally, and their tracks are well received on dancefloors across the globe.

As of late, Deadbeat FM is influenced by the crossover sounds dominated by the likes of Magitman, D-Nox & Beckers, Lish, Perfect Stranger, Khainz, Miki Litvak and so many more.

If you haven’t yet had the guilty pleasure of vibrating to the Deadbeat FM airwaves, be sure to stay tuned.

Keep it deadly.
