No you cant come into my lane cos its mine!

I’m hardly one for ranting and raving, that’s more the department of new MCBN addition Stacky… I would instead consider myself to be observant and slightly opinionated- yes that’s it.

On the way to work this morning- I was cruising along peacefully, as I tend to do when I’m not horribly late or listening to the Prodigy’s “Firestarter” (the song found by researchers to be one of the most likely to give you road rage) when I decided that it was necessary to change lanes.

At this point I looked over to my right to see a gap, of just the right requirements, like Goldi-Locks and the luke-warm porridge that she stole from the bears. As I put my indicator on and proceeded to do the K53 and very Stevie-Wonder-esque look around in all directions like you are blind and playing a piano before changing lanes thing, I happened to notice a girl in a blue Opel Corsa speeding up rapidly, even though moments before she was all chilled and going nowhere, like politics in SA.

The traffic then slowed and she pulled up next door to me- very chuffed with her most recent efforts. I looked over and had quite a lag. You see this isn’t about the fact that it was a mooiness that had a vendetta against guys at all- this goes far deeper.

You see one of my majors while at varsity was Psychology- and one of the things I learnt during my hours and hours of journal research was that there was a bigger reason for this behaviour than pure nastiness. Apparently- girls AND guys at times wont let you into their lanes in traffic because they have some deep seeded desire to “stop men from entering their space”, probably due to past encounters with really pervy uncles (Steve Hofmeyer).

So why all this info you ask? Ag just so the next time someone doesn’t want to let you into their lane in traffic, you’ll know its probably because they’ve been abused- which should make you feel better. Ok wait that sounds horrible…
