Nike Run Jozi

For the most part, when people are running in Jozi- it’s because they’re being chased by somebody with a gun. Nike is about to change all of with a new campaign aimed at boosting the local running scene.

It’s called Nike Run Free.Run Jozi and is a 10 km night race that features 10000 runners,. The race is set on the streets of downtown Jozi and will be taking place on the 21st of March (Human Rights Day). The race starts on Nelson Mandela Bridge at 19:00 and then continues deep into the CBD passing a number of landmarks along the way, paying respects to our SA heritage.  Some of the landmarks that they’ll pass include City Hall, Luthuli House, Constitutional Hill, Jeppe Police Station, Johannesburg Stadium and Ponte Tower, with the finish line at the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown.

The race will be divided into two categories, namely Student and Open. It’ll cost you R50.00 per student with a valid student card, while the fee for Open runners is R70.00 per person.

The online registration for the Nike Run Free.Run Jozi 10 kilometer race has already opened and if you’d like some more info you can check out the official race website www.runjozi.com
