Mr Fuzzy Slipperz is proud to present his first solo art exhibition “Something Has Changed In Me” which opens at the 38 Special Gallery on Thursday the 16th of September, running until the 16th of October 2010.

The exhibition opening will take place on the 16th September from 18h00 until 21h00, and will be open to the public. All works will be on sale for the first time. There will be drinks, snacks, good company and a special showcase of Mr. Slipperz handmade bag done in collaboration with Danielle Clough.

Exhibition concept and theme:

The concept behind the exhibition is that of growth, time, inner conflict and its resolution. This line of works seeks to explore this subject through depicting inner growth or lack of it, by using plants and flowers. The characters in the works experience changes in their lives “as we do” their own inner plant is shown at different stages of its growth. Whether budding, dying or in full bloom the plants serve as visual metaphors that track the characters progress through life. This concept is one that is very personal to me as a young person. It speaks to me on all levels as I too am also trying figure out where I am going and when I am going to grow up as many young people my age do. This line of work is the re-embodiment of the constant back and forth one goes through in life. It is as if the process itself creates a strange paradox whereby one feels as though they are getting dumber by the second and smarter by the year, searching for that break through that will finally let us know that we are on the right path…Only there is no right path or one moment that lets us know that we’ve done what we were sent here to do. Our break through only comes when we realize that we make our own boundaries and only when we break them does one realize we have nothing to lose but our freedom. And it is through finding one’s own freedom that we experience true growth.
