This week sees the release of ISO’s much anticipated 4th studio album, entitled PIECE BY PIECE as they embark on their nationwide album launch tour. The album was written in two months and recorded in one month at Nelius Nortje’s studio in Pretoria. The album was produced by Marko Benini and Richard Brokensha from ISO, and mastered by Rogan Kelsey from Lapdust.
“We have never been this proud of a record before – we believe that this is without a doubt our best record yet!”
PIECE BY PIECE comprises of 10 songs and 2 reprises. The album name comes from the fact that ISO recorded the entire album in-house, and felt they needed to take things step-by-step in order to attain a world class product. PIECE BY PIECE signifies the band slowly but surely putting the puzzle pieces together.
The album is more dance orientated than any of ISO’s previous offerings, yet it still contains their signature sound – only more refined and developed. It features an inviting and eclectic mouth-watering mix of dance, rock, pop and indie combining their musicianship and songwriting abilities.
“We felt inclined to include as many aspects of modern pop culture in our music as possible, and obviously with this being a digital era, it seemed natural to include some more electronic elements. This basically means more keyboards/synthesizers and more effects, which overall adds to the epic nature of our music.“
The artwork for PIECE BY PIECE, designed by Louis Minnaar, is highly detailed yet the overall picture is simple, and this is represented in the sound of the record. Doing everything in-house meant the band got exactly what they wanted when it comes to the overall sound of the album.

PIECE BY PIECE Press Quotes:
“Somewhere in between Owl City’s syrupy synth-confessionals, Death Cab For Cutie’s preppy postgraduate poetry and Coldplay’s cuddly malaise lies the method in ISO bleaching their progressive rock roots into an unapologetic dance pop package.” - Miles Keylock, Editor – Rolling Stone SA.
“With ‘Piece by Piece’, ISO are clearly aiming for the pop stratosphere. My money is on them reaching it.” - Murray Walker, Editor – What’s On.
“ISO’s ‘Piece by Piece’ is a synth pop-infused collection of songs that somehow manages to strike the balance between uniquely cool and massively catchy.” - Annie Brookstone, Editor – Obrigado Magazine.
