Graffiti Artists reclaim outdoor ad space in the UK
I came across the Brandalism project which is a rather interesting little attempt from a group of 25 graffiti artists from eight countries. The effort centers on reclaiming outdoor advertising spaces to show the “destructive impact of the ad industry” – their words.. The group is planning to ‘hijack’ 50 large-scale billboards within the U.K and don them with powerful messages that get you thinking
Some of the artists involved in the Brandalism project include OX, Jordan Seiler, Ron English, Paul Insect, and Know Hope and they’ve already hit Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and London- guerrilla style taking back the visual landscapes owned by the ad industry.
What do you think? Futile attempt, or pretty cool initiative? Check out the full gallery of their work over HERE
