Fugitive of 12 years found after a Facebook post!

There are some cardinal rules that an aspiring fugitive needs to follow in order to make a success of it. The first is to find as remote a place as possible so that you can blend into relatively unnoticed. The second is to not be recognisable: grow a beard, get an orange spray tan, wear glasses and a trucker cap……. that whole vibe. The third, and this could be the dealbreaker if not followed, is to cut off any contact or forms of communication that may expose your whereabouts.

Well…. Robert Lewis Crose failed on item number 2 when, after 12 years on the run, police caught wind of his location after he posted it on Facebook!

He was on parole after being imprisoned for a 1996 incident in Ventura, California, in which Crose, then the owner of an appliance store, used a shotgun to fend off an intruder armed with a rubber hose, according to reports from the Los Angeles Times.

He was convicted of making a terrorist threat and another gun violation, served less than a year in prison before being released on parole, had his parole revoked and was paroled again in October 1998. It was at this time that he decided the fugitive vibe would be far better.

Crose was working in remote Montana and decided recently that Facebook would be the best medium to vent about the weather. The 47-year-old wrote that temperatures had plunged close to freezing and that his “water line froze even with heat tape and wrap”.

When someone asked where he was, he responded with a post that he was in “Cut Bank” – a small town in the aptly-named Glacier County near the Canadian border.

Police distributed photographs of the fugitive in the area and were tipped off that Crose was at a local casino. Crose is now being held in Glacier County jail as officials in California begin the process of extraditing him from Montana.

Wow, Mr. Crose….

That was slightly stupid.

Just slightly…..
