Fridaze Tunage – Robbi Sloan (JHB)

His style of music is always on deeper spectrum of sounds, if it be House Tech, or Techno. He follows the idealism of playing, creating and pushing music, that makes you think and wonder while not forgetting the key factor that dance music should make you want dance, sway or simply tap away just as long as it gets you involved and interested. He has the personal motto for the style music that portrays him is “Music for your Mind and Beats for your Feet”. With his love for dance music which started at a young age back in the days of roof top parties @ Club REALITY where deep house used to ‘rock right on Friday nights’. This instilled a passion for the deeper sounds of House music where deep baselines, thumping kick drums and over tones of percussions became the basis for the sound that has become associated with him today

Sloan has been playing records since 2003. He has performed as a guest in numerous clubs across South Africa, such as Aruba, Eden, Munich, Carfax, Chilli Lounge, Groovebar, Sugar, Truth, Fiction, Fevat to name a few. He has Played at many dance events across the country, such as H2O,FU-CHA, Rocking The Gardens 2010, A Land Called Hysterica, Big Bang, Ferry Corsten Blue Room, Contack, In The Bush and the list goes on. Sloan Does his own events Under the name of Joint Nation, the events are, Emerson Todd at the Woods, Urban Ungerground with KILLER ROBOT, Bill Patrick at the Woods with Joint Nation and We are the Noise, JonJohn at Bar Fusion Hosted by Joint Nation, Play at Bar Fusion with Erica Elle, Anthea Ct, & Floyd Lavine, as well as hosting the Hosting the second floor for the Goldfish Album 3rd Album Launch Get Busy Living, Groove Nation Presented By Natural Groove & Joint Nation, The Series of parties called MadHouse @ CCHQ with Bluchip, Next on Fridays @ Feva, and more recent times joined up with Digital Rockit and South Sensible to do another weekly friday night called Toy Toy @ Capital Music Rosebank. Joint Nation has hosted their own floor at many parties such as Truth at Origin, Joint Nation Night Fiction Night, Joint Nation Night @ The Lighthouse, Joint Nation Night @ Truth. Sloan has played alongside Many Internationals & SA finest Dj’s such as Johnny D (Berlin), AUDIOJACK (UK), Bill Patrick ( USA), JohnJon(GERMANY), SIAN (UK), Ziggy Kinder (Germany), Monika Kruse(Germany), Emerson Todd (New Zealand), Alex Smoke(Scotland),Kanan K7 (Brasil), Dj eCCo (Denmark), Riva Starr(Italy), Ivan and Bruno (Killer Robot), Karmi, Brad S, Pimp Squad.

Sloan has been producing music since 2007, collaborating with many local producers and has future plans to releases music on his own independent label Joint Nation Records. He is the founder of record label and store Joint Nation Records based in Edenvale, the store facilitates a DJ and Production school where they create a foundation for many, as well as supplying musical equipment and giving providing technical support. Joint Nation also hosts numerous amounts of events at various venues around SA under the name of JOINT NATION.

His sets have been a commented as ‘ a journey and a thoughtful story’, so whether its chill lounge playing deep soulful sessions or maybe a underground tech gig where his driving kicks, grinding baselines and highlighted percussions will keep your mind involved, entertained and take you on a fresh musical encounter.
