DJ's – Daft Punk!
Party – A silent party at the aquarium! Everyone gets a set of headphones when they enter, so you can have different DJ’s all spinning at the same time and you can just tune your headphones into the DJ you wanna listen to – Hard House, Electro, Psy etc Then while your partying you have all these fish swimming past – cool!
Man, I'd love to see an oldy such as Judge Jules or Carl Cox, those boys just do the old skool so well.
Ideal party – On a beach, big stage, lots of sand, lilo's and glow sticks in the water, could you think of anything better?
Which international DJ you would next like to see in Cape Town?
Any one of the following DJ's… they're all so hot right now:
* Simon Patterson
* Sean Tyas
* Armin van Buuren
* Arnej
* David Guetta
* Roger Shah
* Infected Mushroom
* Signum
Tell us what your ideal party would you be like? Get creative on this one!
A monstrous beach party… Setup a !!huge!! stage on Camps Bay beach… All the restaurants along the strip can be prepped and be the 'bars' for the party. Close down the main camps bay road. Huge lighting and sound right down the length of Camps Bay beach… Start the party early, like 3 or 4pm with local DJ's like @DJRogerGoode, @DeanFuel etc playing through sunset. Then heat it up with International acts as mentioned above throughout the night and into the morning.
Would be sick
That's a pretty awesome one to start us off there Stacey- good stuff
This going to be a crazy event- Oakey for the win!!!
Hell ya, 2 x beach party votes!
@Ricky – you gota make this happen now, no pressure
Silent parties are gay, coz u have to take off your headphones to chat to your friends/mooiness and then there is no music.
DJs – Daft Punk!, Armin (again)!
Ideal Party – Chilled Cocktail vibes, Lounges and stuff…. but then, u get into a secret Lift that takes you 3 levels underground. u walk into a MASSIVE underground room with awesome ventilation obviously. Speakers(Turbosound TA-880) all around the room, like surround sound vibe(ive done it before so dont tell me its not possible). A wrap around screen that covers the walls with mad visuals. A Laser ceiling, DJ in the middle, playing the sickest uplifting Progressive beats! chicks dancing in cages suspended from the roof. Dwarfs serving drinks, private booths to chill in… more you say? ok fine!… Jacuzzis, Massage beds, ice cream parlours, frozen Margarita Jugs,Jameson and Patron on tap, vodka jelly, beer fountains and fire dancers! and most important…All your best mates/chinas/boytjies/compadres!! coz u cant have all this fun and not share it with anyone!
if that doesnt sound like fun, then i dont know…
its gonna rain on your beach party, what then?

cool guerilla marketing campaign
nice one
Blade Party_ underground vibe like the movies…
I just spoke to butcher boys and got us a 100L sponsorship of cow blood to throw onto the crowd:)
@chrism- hmm organisers are going to have to sell kidneys for the collateral for these beach parties etc
HaHa.
@dave I- that sounds like a great idea, why is it so familiar though?
Good ideas so far- nice entries people, keep em coming!
First of all my ideal dj would be takin deadmau5 an mstrkft and makin a hybrid baby and they could dj but that wont happen so i'll settle for either one of them haha
My ideal party is an exclusive three day party, it begins wen u get sent a uv light and get a free pass to every club in ct where u’ll have find the hottest girl or guy an u have to show them ure best party trick so that they’ll show u the glow in the dark tattoo on their ass to the location of the next party. (Extra points for takin them home, hehe)
Day2: a party yacht for the nite where u party once again all nite on the deck with ct’s hottest models for a slightly more chilled evening with the food for all the best restaurants in ct. where u’ll get the last address for the next party.
Day3: is the epic jol, as u walk in you get 3d glasses for the huge screens projectin trippy images all around. In order to get in u have to do a body shot because it’s where you’ll get ure own key to enter the party. Inside the club all the staff is only allowed to wear body paint. You and ure friends get a chill area where the tables are made from contortionists, an lil rooms with private poker tables and personal waiters so no one ever has to wait at any bar. A huge stage with mad lighting an set up where performances from all my fav dj’s. and we all live happily ever after!!!
Sorry for the novel got lil over excited !!!
Hmmmm…
An Erotica party.. Amazing DJ line up – someone like Nikki Belucci smashing some amazing tunes, gorgeous girls hanging from ceilings in glass 'cages', can be a bit crazy though
Otherwise bring on a view of our Mountain – Judge Jules, Erick Morrillo and Justice rocking the decks, Funktion One sound, huge lighting rigs. I know a venue
For ol-times sake…
Rachel Aubern,
The Gallery
Crazy lazers, and no issues from the dealers.
Yes please!!!
@Karel – my party sounds a lot better. i agree with the line up tho.
BTW – that Lichtenstein Castle is not so big inside. the cool thing about it is that you could maybe have different dancefloors in different rooms of the Castle. but you will never get that “big room” feel inside, and by looking at your DJ line-up, that is what you want. i mean D-nox & Beckers can be in a smaller dark room, but you cant have Armin & DP playing in a Living room.
Id probably have to say wolfGang and id like to see a 3 story building holding a mad party with Hiphop breaks dub at the bottom, electronic beats and flavours on the second floor and the full PSY top floor!! dont be scared
@Neil – Lichtenstein is a big place! :
With its romantic and fairytale atmosphere, the Castle is the ideal location for wedding receptions or grand parties throughout the year. Large receptions can take place in the cellar, which leads onto the garden and can accommodate up to 140 guests around tables plus a dance floor, while smaller functions can take place in the drawing and dining rooms. R10,000 – R12,000 per day.
Obviously in each room, there would be a different Dj playing. Plus i dont want a big room hence only 600 ppl being invited… so there.
Those parties do sound pretty Ayoba.
Unless i can bring my own headphones to a silent disco, i dont think ill attend. I dont really feel like wearing cheapo headphones, that will most definetly give you Tinnitus.
The same goes for beach parties. Unless Zeus is your tighest of chommies, and he can guarantee you a warm windless night, then lekker. I dont want to be sandblasted while jamming to my favourite dj. Althought beach parties are a scream.
I was thinking more on the lines of a themed party. Dont get me wrong, theme parties are fucking shit. Unless of course its a Halloween Party. Everyone (well most people) enjoy dressing up for halloween. Its fun, and most people can get some kind of an outfit, or line their eyes with their sisters eyeliner. Its much easier being Dracuala than Jack Sparrow, lets be honest.
So naturally, after putting on your war paint for the party, you would be hoping to be whisked of to one of the most spectacutar venues Cape Town would have to offer, and no i dont mean Tin Roof. I mean Lichtenstein Castle – Hout Bay (http://lh4.ggpht.com/_ys9Vu1D2gQQ/SdN_KuKW-AI/AAAAAAAABfU/04hZy4-qFkI/dsc_1857.jpg) Aaah, do i have your attention now?!? Everytime you lay eyes on that place you think about what it would be like to lay down some rubber from your takkie.
The decor inside this place would be breathtaking to say the least, at least 6 bags of cotton wool will be used! The sound and lighting will be done by Presentation Staging (or Killowatt if they are cheaper
) Im thinking sound and lighting simlilar to that of the Urban Wave parties. Hell, we'll even bring in Armins Boom box (hes going to be playing you know?)
Naturally the booze will be free. And there will be lots of bars and bar Angels, so no standing arounnd getting sticky elbows waiting for a drink! There will be some phenomenally good looking people walking around with finger foods, dressed with a minimal amount of clothing, of course. The finger foods will be created by cullinary expert Jamie Oliver; lekker. Eating is not cheating people, you acctually want to be able to remember this party, and not be chatting to Barney the Dinosaur on his porcelain telephone, half way through the night)
Around 600 pleople will be invited. To keep the party small and personal. All the acts from Vaudeville will be there (dressed up obviously) to provide us with some light entertainment.
Now to the music. People should start arriving at 1800. (So that means 1600, Cape Town time)
DJ Line up:
James Zabiela
Steve Lawler
D-Nox & Beckers
Armin Van Buuren
Deadmau5
*Daft Punk*
Neelix
Dean Fuel (thats right dean, all those people are warming up for you!)
Well… thats what my dream party would be like!
and it begins…
DJ: No doubt, no question, no contest, the god of dance music Steve Lawler!
Aptly supported by Hiroki Esashika, Valentino Kanzyane, DJ Remo, Max Cooper, James Zabiela and Daft Punk.
Venue: An "altitude" party at The Sky Deck at the empire state building. Easily large enough to accomodate 1000 people, and it has a completely glass floor that looks downard for over 100 stories. have you ever seen sunset/sunrise over the NYC skyline? well try it to the sound of god Lawler! at the top various attractions will include duel base jumping down to 5th avenue where you can be strapped to a professional bass jumper. One of those flotation air fans where you can do a stationery sky dive, and even a stationery sky dive pillow fight. bungee jumping from an extended platform. a rotating dancefloor so you can stay in the same place and see a full 360 degree vista of the skyline as you jam. we will have entertainment brought to you by the Norwegian fire shooting trio, suspended high above the dancefloor. these cats literally shoot giant flames from flame throwers in a coreographed dance to the music. easily the most mystical thing you will ever see. there will also be a Blowjob tent and in here they…. make hamburgers.from 4pm to 4pm the next day i can almost guarentee you that if this ever actually happened it would be the best party you would ever have… and with respect tot the other entrants… ya….
oh and the liquor is comped
what am i saying…. forgot Oakey on the decks!
Im loving these so far boys and girls!!!!
Now to take some of these ideas and make them into a reality!!!
@Stroobz – your party sounds lame. Blowjob tent?? siff!(unless i go first). Are you there to Party or BASE jump?
@Karel – My party isnt in a parking lot, i was talking about a underground cellar(3 storeys in volume).
@Karel – a Halloween party in that Castle does sound cool, but i still dont see Daft Punk playing in a small venue, it doesnt seem right. Because you wont be able to put a HUGE sound rig up there. Underground Cellar FTW!
Nail your party is ok but I reckon charlie's would also kick ass. My ideal party would be Daft Punk live outside the pyramids of Giza in egypt, there will be free everything including flights from all over the globe.
Daft Punk will be playing on their pyramid rig, in front of the pyramids just across the way from the sphinx. Sand is still warm under your feet, and the venue completely wind free, unlike the bEach. There will be no funny waiters or ppl in cages just an ocean of ppl jamming under the warm egyptian nights till the sun breaks over the horizon!
Now that's a party!
@Neil – A cellar now? Earlier it was just a massvie room. Kak plan boet.
Come bru. Would you rather party in a underground room, with little ventilation (the temple comes to mind) or in a castle? No brainer if u ask me.
@Jano – pyramids are cool, but sand will get into Neils fanny.
@Stroobz – expecting many 16 year olds at your party? I went to a 5fm party just like that once @ ratanga. The sugar buzz was epic.
@Kreg – must I come pick the tickets up or will you drop them off?
@Jano – *Yawn* ya cool pyramid theme all around. it would get hot and sandy and shit. But i suppose then u can get Darude to play during the Sandstorm? Lame.
Underground(cool) Cellar FTW!!
I rate Neil's idea is the best, not going to even try compete with that…
In terms of DJs… My number one choice would have obviously been Deadmau5, but since he's rocking it out here in July, I'd have to say Wolfgang Gartner, his production is just too tight!!
Hey neil u got an ok idea but I still think it not cutting the mustard, I reakon the pyramids would be sick, I have been there and it not really wind just warm and the energy is amazing just being surrounded by the ancient monuments. If u wanna party in a dark whole then I suggest u give some girl a call…
Hahaha hadn’t even seen that but yeah that article is true then…
@Karel – Refer to previous comment
@ Wulf – Deadmau5 isnt coming anywhere near South Africa, he proobably doesnt even know it exists.
@Karel – Ahhh, the ignorance… Talk to me in 3 months time buddy!!
@Wulf http://www.mycitybynight.co.za/deadmau5-comes-to-… ?
@Wulf http://www.mycitybynight.co.za/april-fools/
@Karel – Omg, that is so funny! As I previously stated, talk to me in a few months time buddy!!
Guys, I think we’d all love Deadmau5 here, but once someone gets concrete information on it, I think its best we dont argue about it because it could go on forever and ever. Daniel, you seem to know in three months he’ll be there, I heard a month, could you tell me a little more about this please bro… would love to hear what you have heard. More info on Deadmau5 would make me fooking happy…
Now all of you, get back to the competition…
Tiesto, armin van buuren and infected mushroom again…
arnej, gareth emery
The dream party would be on a separate uninhabited island which can only be accessed by boat with lots of sand, sun, awesome cocktails and shots, fireworks and lots of trance music and beautiful people…braii
Ok now after a bit of thought…
My problem with the current leaders above is that they all seem to have lost the key ingredient CAPE TOWN!
So my party would be on robben island…
A 3 day festival with various differant floors based around various roller coasters and rides. Camping will be provided in various camping villages each with allocated facilities ie showers etc. Bring ur own tent or ready prepared tents (kreef hotel) all will be catered for! VIP will stay in prison cells that have Been converted in luxury rooms! Transport is provided by ferries that would run every hour and a half
throughtout the weekend festival. Did I mention that the cape town muncipality have also agreed to leave lights on the mountain 2 allow the illuminated mountain to provide an mind blowing backdrop!
The various floors would be along the lines of:
Rock/Alternative – maybe not everyone here’s scene but im thinking prodigy/ jamariqui and other mad live acts
electronica – over the 2 nights and last day of the festival a mix and sa’s top talent and international artists drop only the pure heat! Although I’m not the most in touch with electro artists the like of wolfgang etc come to mind. Although we’d want to allow for various styles to be catered for.
Funky/chill – the funky floor situtated on the beach runs during the day and stops after sunset! Artists include Roger shanez, a Danny tanaglia/ Danny Rampling back to bck set maybe a bit of goldfish!
on the last day the sun would set to the smooth sounds of jack Johnson and ben Harper
sun, sand, mojitos and some funky, sexy music…
Other entertainment will include fireworks display, live comedy shows, wavescape out door cinema etc
So the big question is how would we lure all these big budget acts to our fair shores! Well we throw the party with good old madiba’s charity and give all the proceeds to them. Not only will all proceeds go to charity but the unique traing and development programme that surrounds all commercial activities arounf the event (food/accomodation/security/project managmentetc) will not only create various job and emloyment oppurtunties but will it turn allow for an improvemant in staff on key areas in WC and SA.
international artists worldwide will be queing up to be part of this monumental event!
This bi annual event will become a highlight on the global festival calendar and propell cape town into the big time
If you gonna dream, you may as well dream big
Sorry about that being so long, got a bit carried away there!
@James- Never apologise for ANYTHING being too long
Im liking the entries so far!!!
I’d also like to think that if Deadmau5 was coming to Cape Town, he’d have the decency to call us first and arrange an interview… I mean come on- we are THE authority on all things cool, arent we??
@James – cool idea, but will never happen. Ticket prices would have to be round R1500/person just to cover costs. and that is if you are expecting 5000 people… yes, your party will costs more than R7.5mil to setup.
@Karel – have you been into a modern cellar lately? they have the best A/C bru! how do you think your Crackling stays so lekker fresh?
@Wulf – Maybe if Urbanwave was still going they could allure Deadmau5 to our shores. but have you seen the news about our country lately?
@Karel(again) – you tune Stroobz about a 16 yr old party, but you are the one who wants to have a Halloween Dress-up Party in a Palace hehe. Will there be Candyfloss and Toffee Apples?
@Neil – Bru, where are you going to find a 3 story underground cellar, that has nothing inside it for a party, unless its just been built? At least the Castle is on our doorstep.
@Neil – Theres nothing wrong with easting a toffee apple, if you are a girl, its quite sexy actually http://girlfriendstripping.com/files/2009/10/sexygirlfriendstripping49.jpg
@Wulf – If deadmau5 is playing here, why not tell us some more info?!? Unless its one of theose; sssshhhh, Deadmau5 is coming to Cape Town dont tell anyone!!
Onaj FTW
@Karel – That castle of yours is a very old building, and is built high up in the mountain, therefor it has a natural structure frequency of 90Hz. They will not allow you to put up a sound system that goes lower than that, for safety reasons. You said – "Im thinking sound and lighting simlilar to that of the Urban Wave parties. Hell, we’ll even bring in Armins Boom box (hes going to be playing you know?)". Ok, Armin had a L-Acoustic V-DOSC system, which went down to 25Hz.
In Conclusion, your party is gonna suck with a small sound rig!
Underground Cellar F.T.W.!
@ Tall – sounds like you are just a little bit bias towards your own party…
ok, so here is my idea, in keeping with the theme of this month, i suggest a Revolutionary House Party!
All VIP guests will arrive in a new luxury state of the art BMW 7 series, or Range Rover or Merc C63 AMG.
There will be a red carpet with BBC journo's to cover the event. Once they are feeling secure, wekick them out, whilst belittling them at the same time (agent bastards!). I was thinking Nando's could cator the event, in keeping with the theme. We can all get drunk on Moet, and perhaps invite some of the disadvantaged elderly to the event and offer them Bannanas and Blankets, whilst we sip our R600 a bottle champers.
As Far as Dj's go, really doesnt matter, all we need is an average DJ, to spin the decks, and julius on the mic, to fill in for what would normally be samples.
Imagine how cool it would be to have Julius breaking it down with his words of wisdom, to some Reveolutionary house tracks!
If we really wanted to spice things up, we could invite the new AWB leader, and have a live "battle"
Please note, no studios were touched/harmed in the fabrication of this concept.
1. Which international DJ you would next like to see in Cape Town?
Since I’ve seen the Trance King himself- Armin Van Buuren and also the slightly higher BPMin’ Richard Durand here already I think it’s time we get exposed to some good ol’ Balearic and uplifting Trance with the Legend -Roger Shah!
2. Tell us what your ideal party would you be like? Get creative on this one!
This would be on the roof of the ABSA Building in Town! Trance taking us to another level as we raise our hands and reach for the sky. Being on a natural high, above the rest of the city looking up at the Dj and to the stars above him will put us all in an euphoric state that can only be achieved with this great genre of music – Trance.
Some deep minimal tech brought to you by: extrawelt.
The DJ is obviously sitting in his booth nested neatly on the edge of the top of Table Mountain. His set is being broadcast over the airwaves on an FM radio frequency. Lightworxx have done a great job by getting permission to project some sweet visuals onto the mountain all night long; a couple marching ants, some electric eels battling it out with some squidding squids, throw in a salamander (whichever variation tickles your fancy) throw in a couple lazers and we're in, everyone. Now, wherever you might be in the mother city, 609 Wembley let's say, you can look out the window and tune in and get loose to some deep tech sounds. Bass and MyCityByNight bring to you, the City of Kapitaan, "The Mountain that Rocks". Do with it what you will, throw your own roof top party, street party, beach party in Table View if thats your vibe (not the best, but whatevr) all in the knowledge that you are partying with the whole of the city.
And that just happened.
Geez, this Bass guy is a genius. His expansive imagination and impressive creative abilities are beyond our time. Where did he come from? I would definitely make sure I'm in town for his party.
@Bass – Thats just lame, you might as well have Paul Oakenfold playing on 5fm.
@Onaj – you can listen to it on your radio at your moms house.
