Wait… hold on- Von Lurie that line up is absolutely insane!!!! That’s straight up hands in the air trance from the island of Ibiza. I think that the CT crew needs to make a mission up to come and join you for an ripper!!!
hmm… maybe we should find out about getting our fans a freebie or 2 while we’re at it
is this only trance or will there be some funk involved…?
Seems like its just trance Tyler, but I am sure there will be another dance floor or 3 with different styles of music. There has to be… but I will find out for you
Not too sure tyler… I’m sure they’ll start the night off with something a little bit more chilled- a little bit of funky always goes down well! Will see if I can find the line up for the night for you.
Von Lurie… What’s the word there brother???
@Ricky: Yes this is gonna be one seriously ripping party!
Oh yess! The whole MCBN crew should be here to shred this event to pieces! Just like the good old days
Watch this space for massive giveaways for this event! There are gonna be some seriously lucky fans out there!:D
Dude, I saw Sander van Doorn at street party in Eindhoven, and I saw Marco V at Dance Valley.
Marco V is pure dutch pride beats. What an epic Jam. If the whole MCBN crew's up it could be carnage….
hi
this really sounds like a cool party but your ticket prices are insane, i am worried the 350 per head is a rip off. goodluck but know that myself and crew is not willing to settle for that price…250 – 280 should be good
It is pricey but you will NEVER have these artists on the same bill in SA at a venue like Gallagher for anything less than that price. If you had to look at an overseas party with the same or similar dj's you'd be paying a whole lot more- I promise!
Just my 2c
@ g forced out: I forwarded your comment to the Off the Wall Events team (the guys responsible for bringing us the awesome event) and i think this response makes great sense. Here is their response:
From the Off the Wall Events team:
Electric Mansion is committed to raising the standard of dance parties in South Africa. For too long we have settled for the mediocre and the time has come for the spectacular.
What we are offering exceeds by far anything seen before in South Africa and it is just not possible to do at a lower ticket price. We have no doubt that all those who attend will believe that we are giving incredible value and it is perhaps premature to assume otherwise before attending the event.
I agree with there response 100%, I would do anything to see these artists in Cape Town and think its about right that you spend that much money on seeing them over there. A normal ticket for Above and Beyond in CT is R280… FOR ONE DJ! This is for 3 of the GREATEST!!!!
Enjoy all, so jealous!!
CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS !!!!!!!!!!!! WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hurry up October !
Me toooo Nicky!! I cant wait to book my flight up and jam it with all of you Jozi Late Night Alumni

This is definitely the revival of old skool raving!! Can't wait to see what Electric Mansion have in store for us!! I'm so stoked that James Damian and Shane Halcon are both on the local DJ line up as well as the 3 internationals~!! What a treat, I have such toothache thinking about it!! I hope the MyCityBynight crowd will wear logo t-shirts with their brand website name on, so we can spot you amongst the masses!!! As Timo Maas would say "music for the maases"…:D
What are the aliases for the correspondents in Jozi?
I can only find one…
Pls let me know?
I want to stand a change of winning tickets
Valdette: I dont know how much easier to make it… one hint: *The Story So Far*
We are not giving any information out anymore as these tickets are worth a lot and it isnt the hardest competition to win such an AWESOME prize!
NO GO ON AND ENTER
This was a way overrated party!
Boo to the promoters for fooling the peeps.
U deserve the empty dancefloor you had ….
Marco V was shit! SvD was THE shit and First State was way too gay to play last.
U okes are seriously fucking up SA’s dance scene and their beliefs in honest promoting!
@2Cool: Care to elaborate on how they are fucking up the SA Dance scene and the beliefs in honest promoting, I wasnt at the event and everyone I have spoken to was completely mind blown. So if you wouldnt mind letting me know that would be great. We are currently editing the videos so we can post them for all to see and then I will get to judge for myself. So you are honestly the first complaint I have heard since the event…
@2Cool- I think your comment is a tad harsh… I’ve been going to dance events for ages and I’ve seen everything from promoters… Good and Bad.
I agree that the venue was not as full as I had hoped that it would be but I think thats only natural- people are generally quite a sceptical bunch when it comes to shelling out +R300 for any party. Look at Godskitchen and their upcoming tour of SA- last year the boombox ticket sales dragged along slowly- this year they’re all almost sold out because everyone that didnt go, checked out the videos and were blown away.
The dancefloor also looked empty because of the sheer size of Gallagher Estate- if that place had like 6 thousand people in it- the floor would have coooooked- Sensation White Style.
I have to agree that Marco V’s set on the night was very average and before we could grab an interview with him, he had already ducked home to go to bed. Not very superstar dj like. Sander van Doorn’s set was impeccable on the night, even though the music cut twice during his set.
I felt rather sorry for First State having to step up and play last- it was a bit late to expect him to keep the crowd jamming… His set was filled with melodic vocals and hands in the air tunage, but most definately would be more suited to playing a set a little earlier in the night or as the sun is coming up somewhere outdoors.
I havent seen promoters bring the heat like Off the Wall did in a very long time and thats why I kinda dont get why you say they’re not being honest? Everything they promised would be there was there along with a whole lot more…
Each to their own I guess hey?
Ok – i’m happy to rephrase – It was a great event. Certainly much much bigger than SA is used to, but then again what are we really used to? ….
I’ve also been going to dance events for ages – locally and def internationally. I agree the spectacle of electric mansion was enough to have them ‘mind blown’ if you cannot really compare it to proper international events, and before you go saying this is SA – remember we had 3 internationals who are rather well known and are used to top notch productions.
There were a few things that got to me:
- Lack of decent booze @ 3 am. I walked around bar to bar trying to get a double jack and red bull – no joy!
- About 3.30 there was no coke even.
- Seeing a resteraunt was immense and I thought awesome we could grab a bite before leaving – NO! They closed before 2am.
- The few couches outside the main hall could not be considered a chill room – perhaps thats why so many ppl left after SvD.
- The dj booth blocked the various entertainment provided – If u stood where James D started to play and kinda stayed there the rest of the night (as most peeps did) you could not see to the other end of the hall.
@Kreg: A lot of my mates did not go. They simply did not want to fork out R720 for a couple to be possibly dissapointed. Im saying the hype promised false illusions of a massive thought effort being put into things – this i did not see on the night. Take out the glamour girls and testerone boys and first timers who simply had to see what this was about and what did you really have? Less than a 1000 true trance addicts who could spell DOORN. This is not what the djs deserved did they?
As RICKY said, ppl are sceptical to shell out more than 300, in this case less than 400, as they have been bummed before. Why then not make the prices more affordable to fill up Gallagher. Is it not about a full insane dance floor going off @ some serious tunes? I agree that Above and beyond will be packed to the rafters like was AvB – that night will linger on in may many minds for a long long time – It was simple and effective – Awesome visuals and awesome tunes!! EM disspointed me in the visuals area – sure the fireworks were WOW for the 2 minutes they were on- wheres the lasers etc ??
On to the DJs – As a dj you are supposed to react to the crowd in front of you – not simply pull up and play your set as you practised.
I reckon First State could have thrown out his track list and given us something to dance to instead of think of the drive home and the soft couch I was gonna end up on.
Please dont get me wrong in all of this – All I am really saying is that SA still has an abundance of true revellers who understand the music and can comment on a set – those who have travelled the world and partied amongst the best of them – To simply base matters on the opinions of the new ‘in’ crowd with a pocket of pills is really ignorant.
Just my R720 chaps! No less
Nice one 2Cool!!! I had forgotten about a few of the points you brought up there!
But cool- lets hope events keep getting the basics right in the future and that the promoters get the mix (pricing, djs, venues etc) right or at least as right as possible!
Big up to Off the Wall! Use this feedback to improve wherever possible because thats how you’ll ensure a loyal following! Listen to us- we know what we want:)
