EDM Fest featuring Gareth Emery
Nuwave has returned to the electronic music scene with the EDM Fest! NuWave Entertainment, together with Tinderbox, is bringing South Africa Gareth Emery; Lange; Protoculture and a live vocal set from Sarah Howells for one united display of mind-blowing trance, progressive trance and live vocal performances. The event is going down on the 15th December at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Jozi.
The wheelchair friendly venue will be transformed into a first class party location with bars stretching over a 150 meters, food areas catering for a variety of tastes and ATM machines inside the venue grounds. VIP’s will enjoy a separate raised area, with exclusive bars and couches, overlooking the main dance floor to take in the full view.
Gareth is consistently voted inside the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll – peaking at Number 7 – with his burgeoning Garuda party, selling out Manchester’s legendary Sankeys four times in a row and spawning a critically acclaimed compilation, The Sound Of Garuda. Building a musical brand around his name in record shops, download stores, radio and club land has given him an all-encompassing reputation in dance music that is rivalled by few.
In just under five years, W&W solidified into one of the freshest, most exciting electronic dance acts on the scene. From what started as a chance meeting at the 2007 Trance Energy, has come a new multifarious trance sound that, globally, has begun to shatter underground clubs, arenas and festivals. Almost a year to the day since Willem and Ward first shook hands, they quickly took up the spinning mantle. W&W’s ‘Arenas’ fast found the CDJs of luminaries like Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Sander Van Doorn & Judge Jules. W&W continued to produce singles such as ‘Mainstage’, ‘Manhattan’, ‘Impact’, to name just a few, all of which have rocked federation trance to its core.
Lange is recognised as one of the most influential dance artists of the past decade – a DJ who has remained at the forefront of the scene throughout his career, and a producer that continues to push all boundaries. He is the producer behind an astonishing 20 UK top 40 hits, while also being the talent responsible for the UK Top 10 trance anthem ‘Drifting Away’, the classic SuReal–‘You Take My Breath Away’ and the remixer that brought tracks such as DJ Sakin‘s ‘Protect Your Mind’, ‘Lost Witness’ and ‘Happiness Happening’ to a mainstream global audience. These achievements have gained him undiminished support from industry leaders such as Paul van Dyk, Sasha, PaulOakenfold, Judge Jules and Pete Tong, and even an appearance on Top of the Pops.
The Cape Town-based DJ and producer, Protoculture went from headlining festivals on the local psytrance scene each season, to living on international rotation and playing to audiences upwards of 150 000 people. His trademark uplifting sound has been played in all four corners of the globe, with gigs taking him to super clubs and incredible festivals in London, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Moscow and everywhere in between. Diversifying his sound whilst still flying the flag high for South Africa, Protoculture has accessed the next realm of his career and carved himself a place on the electronic map with the best of them – proudly home grown.
Sarah Howells is responsible for one of trances biggest tunes of recent time, ‘Find Yourself’ with John O’Callaghan. Played by every DJ worth their salt, from Armin to Tiesto to Van Dyk, the video has nearly hit 3 million views on Youtube and was remixed by everyone from Cosmic Gate to Michael Woods.

Only ONE Trance tune? Well there are many contenders old and new, firewire, air for love, on a good day(who could forget A&B dropping this), sanctuary, a thing called love, but one that has grown on me and will always hold a special place for me is Cosmic Gate’s recent collaboration with South Africa’s J’Something on Over The Rainbow.
tough one, if had to chose one it would be Ferry Corsten – Fire.
All of Gareth Emery’s tracks are AMAZEBALLS, if I had to choose one trance track of all time, it owuld be his track Gareth Emery Feat Lucy Saunders – Sanctuary
When there’s no where left to run, Run with me, Let the moment be a sanctuary, When its all that you’ve become, Set it free, Let this moment be a sanctuary

Theres just THREE songs (For Me That Is) that has cemented Trance Into The Hearts Of One And All

My favourite trance track of all time is “Synaesthesia” by The Thrillseekers, first brought out in 1999. Long live old skool trance
Oh my greatness! How to list only 1 track when there’s SOOO many unbelievably awesome tracks – old & new?
My choice comes down to 2 tracks

it has got to be sarah mclachlan feat delerium silence, any remix thereof. we’ve seen it in ads, the appletizer one. And every dj will agree that the song really stands out as a crowd pleaser as well as a crowd teaser. The most effective remix currently out probably is W&W’s remix which will definately get everyone just going mad!
It just doesnt get old!!!!

This is one of the most difficult choices I’ve eve had to make.
But I’ll narrow it down to my top 3:
1. Better Half of Me – Dash Berlin
2. Sun & Moon – Above & Beyond
3. Arrival – Gareth Emery
I’m obsessed with Sanctuary, its my ring tone, alarm and first song I play when I jump into my car, always has been since I attended ASOT 500. I’m one of those die hard fans that has mad love for this Legend and would be extremley grateful if I won those double jamming tickets to DBN:)
My all time Fav is AVB in and out of Love, Its the genre I love more…you don’t listen to trance you feel it…Send my toosh to Wavehouse so I can feel Gareth Emery’s beats:)
My all time favourite song is Tiesto-Beautiful Child. DBN please
My all time favorite Trance/Progressive would have to be “Oryon – V2 (Original Mix)”. The raw amount of soul produced by this song is unbelievable. The passion, anger, drama… it’s just a roller-coaster of pure emotion. The aftertaste of ecstasy is overwhelming. Possibly the greatest song of all time for me.
