Do I publish my age on Facebook?

Blogs are generally supposed to be honest… maybe not entirely factual but definately written from a place of honesty which is pure like the Ganges, oh wait. nevermind.

The same is not neccesarily true for social networking sites. People lie all the time. People lie online even more of the time (yes yes, I know my 7th Grade English teacher is busy turning around in her grave because I said that but this is a blog and you arent my teacher anymore, or alive.) Some people like me, simply take the middle road and lie by ommission.

Anyone who is friends with me on Facebook-dont go search for Ricky Bynight now (you dont think my folks were really cool enough to name me that)- would know that I’ve cunningly left out the year of my birth in the information that is shown to all friends and friend-hopefulls out there.

The reason I have done this is very cunning-

If nobody knows how old you are then they cant get all up tight when they find out you’ve broken one of the ground-rules of dating for guys- “dont date younger than your own age divided by 2 with seven added” But of course as any lawyer will tell you- semantics are important- in this rule it says date… *snigger*

Anyways- I was just thinking… is age something that you think should be shared online? Surely your Facebook “friends” should know how old you are? Or should they? hmm…
