Cutty Sark Whisky lands in South Africa
It’s the same whisky that the guys in Goodfellas and Boardwalk Empire drink and now Cutty Sark, the world’s first light style whisky, has finally arrived on South African shores.
I had the opportunity of tasting some Cutty Sark at The Bascule and this pale gold, vanilla and “oakey” whisky is really different to most blends out there. It was launched in 1923, this light style blended Scotch whisky is matured in American oak casks, resulting in the signature flavour of vanilla and citrus fruits. And how’s this for an awesome catchphrase…

Cutty Sark is now on sale for a suggested retail price of R119 per bottle and I’ve asked them to introduce the whisky to you- the MyCityByNight audience first!

I would pour my Cutty Stark into a hip-flask and sneak it into a club, and enjoy it on the dance floor. coz i know no club in Cape Town has this to offer yet. I would set a trend like that.

OOH definitely chilling by the side of my pool with all my friends having a lekker braai. This of course, just before we all hit to road to one of the great gigs that MyCityByNight has to offer on their current events page. A great drink to a great start of partying, safely of course with our Key Designated driver!
The best way to drink Cutty Sark is around a campfire, or in a very dark bar with a great band playing, or while playing scrabble near a fireplace. Fact is . . . right now, someone, somewhere is pouring a Cutty Sark for their friends.
This would have to be a summer whiskey for me, enjoyed around the pool when having friends over for a braai.Then served for my ladies mixed with, soda water, lemonade or Appletiser,and for the guy’s on the rocks.
