Real Concerts in association with 567 Cape Talk, Talk Radio 702 and East Coast Radio is proud to present multi platinum recording artists- Crowded House live in South Africa from 26 to 30 October 2010. If you’ve ever listened to the radio- you’ve probably heard at least one song from each of their albums spanning over what must be close to 25 years in the mainstream music industry (which is more than the time some of you have been around).

The tour kicks off in Cape Town at the Grand Arena on 26 October, then moves onto Durban ICC Arena on 28 October and ends at The Big Top Arena at Carnival City in Johannesburg on the 29 and 30 October 2010.

These guys are freaking legends and this promises to be an absolute must-see concert!!!

Tickets are available from Computicket on www.computicket.com or call 083 915 8000.

BIOGRAPHY

From humble beginnings as a 3 piece band that used to kick it in one rental car, Crowded House went on to become one of the world’s biggest performing and recording artists eventually ending up as a 4 man band consisting of Nick Seymour (bass), Mark Hart  ( keys / guitar ), Matt Sherrod (drums) and Neil Finn ( singer, player )- And guess what? They’re Austrailian!  :)

Real Concerts shares our love for giving away absolutely ridiculous prizes to you boys and girls and thus have been awesome enough to supply us with 2 double tickets for Golden Circle to the Cape Town leg of the Crowded House tour (you’ll be so close that you can quite possibly get a sweaty towel used by Neil thrown on you, if that’s your thing).

TICKET COMPETITION

What we would like you to do is leave a comment telling us about your favourite Crowded House tune and any of the memories associated with it- for example releasing hundreds of multi-colour balloons on a deserted beach while playing ‘Always bring the weather with you’ through your Ipod docking station (or something equally believable).

And then secondly- Copy the following into your Facebook status and “like”/reTweet this post:

I remember listening to it on full volume in my res room and know I definately converted a few afrikaans people into fans! (believe it or not—they had no idea who CH where!!!) ‘Something so strong’ got me through the long all nighters studying!!!

It’s someone very specials birthday coming up so this is for him.

My family has always had music flowing through our veins and from as far as I can remember my father has been the back bone of that. Back when I was small enough to dance on my dad’s feet or do plays for the family. After the braai was finished and everyone sunk into a corner of the couch there would always been a man sitting by the cd player with piles of records and cds, smiling at the memories while reading the back track lists. One cd always was played the one song that everyone knew the words too. The joke to the family members that everyone had their song that was always played. Amongst the laughter and boozy conversations one voice would always be heard either humming or singing along to his favourite songs. My dad who even to this day plays the scratched slightly worst for wear crowded house cd. So the tickets this time are not for me but for that man who sits by the sound system singing to his favourite song. “Always take the weather with you”

Oh yes and my favorite song is
“And She Was” is the name of a rock song from the 1985 Talking Heads album Little Creatures written by David Byrne. According to Byrne, the song was written about a girl he knew who used to take LSD in a field next to a Yoo-hoo beverage factory in Baltimore, Maryland. It reached number 54 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 17 on the British singles chart.
