This week in Cape Town is going to be packed with a series of festivities leading up to the draw for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Starting with the switching on of the city’s World Cup themed festive lights yesterday Cape Town is buzzing with football fever. Some of the events that we can look forward [...]

This week sees the beautiful city of Cape Town welcome the equally gorgeous(in a totally non-gay way) David and Victoria Beckham. David Beckham has been selected by his government to attend the World Cup Draw being held at the CTICC on Friday 4th December in a bid to boost England’s bid for the 2018 Soccer [...]

The Springbok 7’s side are on their way to Dubai for the annual 7 aside tournament. The Springbok’s unveiled their new jersey and I’m kind of accepting it with mixed reactions. It looks a little mix between the Australian and South African cricket jersey, but it still looks pretty cool. As long as they play [...]

I have never been a big fan of Henry, he is an outstanding player and no one can doubt that, but his actions in the world cup qualifier against Ireland are just despicable, disgusting and very unsportsmanlike. His “hand of god” allowed him to cross the ball into the middle of the box and letting [...]

Seeing as we are nearing the Soccer World Cup, with only around 7 months to go till this spectacle reaches our shore. I’d like to show you how the Durban Stadium is looking, seeing as though we have been keeping everyone up to date with the new Cape Town Stadium (here) and (here), I think [...]

McLaren yesterday dropped some of the hottest news in F1 grand prix racing to date when they announced that Jenson Button will partner Lewis Hamilton at the F1 team next season in an all-British lineup of world champions.
This ultra lucrative multi-year deal (in the region of 6 million pounds a year besides race bonuses, hot women and sponsorship deals) sees the newly-crowned title holder [...]

So last night saw the return legs of Soccer World Cup 2010 qualifying taking place with a selection of footballing giants still not having booked at place at the spectacle. Im fairly happy to say that both France and Portugal made it through meaning that we’ll see the likes of Ronaldo and Thierry Henry gracing our beautiful shores.
So the final 32 countries [...]

I want to congratulate the “Pac Man” on his win against Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Veags. Manny is definitely one of my favourite boxers out there at the moment and to watch him go the whole 12 rounds is always something special. Well done to Cotto for putting in such a [...]

Wow now that wasn’t the best weekend for South African sports. Beaten by the French 20 – 13 and getting smashed by the English in the 20/20 game on Friday although in the second game on Sunday we did crush them by 84 runs. Bafana Bafana held Japan to a one all draw, so that’s [...]

So it was but a matter of time before I said something about the former Springbok rugby hero whose name is on the lips of most South Africans at the moment.
From the heights of winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup and retiring while holding the record for most test tries scored by any South African, [...]

Here at MyCityByNight, the rivalry between the top English Premier league teams is fierce. So yesterday when it came down to Chelsea V Manchester United, it was safe to say that the friendly banter had turned into chirping and extra time Michael Owen predictions. We ended up at the Deck in Hout Bay with a [...]

I was over at my mate Francois Louws Blog and I saw some great news, Bryan Habana signed for the Stormers and WP, done deal! Thanks Rassie. Thats awesome news, Jacque Fourie and Bryan Habana with Juan De Jongh playing at inside centre and Joe Pieterson at Fullback? Sound helluva deadly to me!
So amped for Habana to arrive, things in [...]

I honestly think that the stadium is looking so sweet, cant wait till its finished so I can go watch [...]

Some more awesome football went down this week in the UEFA Champions League. I didn’t watch much footy last night but I watched some really great goals on Tuesday night in the AC v Madrid games, Chelsea v Athletico (Drogba and Aguerro were unbelievable) and CSKA Moskow gave Man United a good run for there [...]

Peter De Villiers has again in my mind messed up another Springbok selection, the continual defensive of Earl Rose is just to much for me. He has not contributed anything to South African rugby and never will. What about Joe Pieterson? what about Stefan Terblanche? Chilliboy and Maku, both chosen ahead of Adriaan Strauss and Tiaan [...]
