Age aint nothing but a number…

On Sunday I decided to make the most of a little bit of winter sun in Cape Town and make a mission to the Gypsy Village (also known as Hout Bay) to go and hang out with Kreg (who’s always there visiting) and the rest of the peace-bangle making crew.

As the evening progressed and I got chatting to one of my favourite gypsies- the topic of older guys dating younger girls came up…

Being born post 80′s made the views of this particular mooiness rather interesting… You see- she figures that some of the reasons that guys date younger girls (much younger, like half a decade at least) and vice-versa are as follows:

Girls tend to mature faster than guys and thus guys have very little to no desire to hang out (nice way of saying pomp) and talk to girls our own age because it feels like we’re having a chat to our grannies.

Once a younger girl has had an interaction (once again, a nice way of saying raunchy sex) with an older guy, dudes her own age become a little bit boring, like those chips you used to like before trying Pringles.

Her final and possibly most pertinent observation was that guys couldnt be bothered to put in the extra effort needed to entertain the likes of a girl who is the same age and is all like ” look at me, im the same age as you, I was born when Teletubbies didnt exist”.

I kind of agreed with what she was saying- Im of the opinion that people attribute a lot to age (erectile dysfunction, memory loss, kiddy fiddling etc)… Which is why I dont put my age up on Facebook- people think that if you are a certain age you should be doing certain things… I think its utter nonsense. In my opinion age is nothing but a mindset and although being around on this planet for a certain amount of years entitles you to different things (drinking, driving- not in that order- and even when its legal for you to have sex), it shouldnt dictate your behaviour or who you date.

I guess what I’m getting at is- next time you see a guy or girl who’s out on the jol with someone muuuuuch younger, DONT do that usual thing and give ‘em funny looks… Rather just embrace diversity (of age) and remember that AGE AINT NOTHING BUT A NUMBER

Who am to have an opinion though… She did end the conversation off with-”ive finally turned 18″ and i’m probably just thinking with my wiener- right?
